May 14 Council Summary & Observations

It was a pretty average Council meeting on Thursday (agenda here) and it was fairly well attended by folks speaking to a proposed 18 storey building on Yates St (#960-62) and a GPC decision for the city to regulate Medical Marihuana. The weekly proclamations were random as usual and made me think that I’ll have to send in a request for “City Council Live Tweeter Appreciation Week” one of these days.

May 14 Council Early Thoughts

Just wanted to share some thoughts on the Public Hearings and a few other items on the Council agenda for tomorrow. One thing to note straight off is that Proclamation of Local Government Awareness week (the same week as Public Works Week) is not on the agenda.

May 7 GPC Summary & Observations

It was actually a pretty good meeting this morning with some interesting presentations from staff and decent questions from Council (video here). The agenda had some late additions but these were the item powerpoint decks which are typically only added after meetings. I really wish they would be added before meetings because then I could tweet them out in addition to the relevant staff report or council motion when a given item comes up on the table.

May 7 GPC Early Thoughts

There is an odd assortment of items on the GPC agenda for Thursday and I’m sure a number of them will prompt significant conversation by members. Because the bridge and the sexy topic of marijuana are on the agenda, I’m sure the big media guys will  be there to get their shots of the action and also interview Mayor Helps afterwards.
